Puntadewa
is the oldest brother of the five Pandavas/Pandawa who became the king of Amarta/ Endrapasta.
He
was the son of King Pandudewanata with queen Kunti. Puntadewa
has a wife Dewi Draupadi, the daughter of King Drupada of Pancala Kingdom. The
marriage got a son named Pancawala. Puntadewa
is an honest and sincere king who was also very patient, generous and appreciates other people. He would give what is requested by anyone, even his wife. He
is a white bloody king who has a great power to transform to be a giant (God Mambang) if he was angry.
In Javanese shadow puppet, Puntadewa is shown position tumungkul (downward) face, liyepan (droopy) eyes, walimiring (knife
shaped) nose, and wide-mouthed. He
wore a Gelung Keling crown and Sumping Prabangayun. His body is Satrio Alus decorated with Gajah Gelar. The foot position is pocong with Ningrat (noble) motives. Hi is generally shown gembleng. It looks plain without any decoration wore as a symbol of the perfection of life.
In a Chronicle story Babad Alas Mrentani, Puntadewa could beat genie Yudhisthira, which was then fused in one soul in the body Puntadewa. Alas
Mrentani which was originally a jungle had been built by the Pandavas/Pandawa to be a great country known as Amarta and Endrapasta, then Puntadewa crowned as
the king with the title of King Yudhisthira.
In the great war Baratayuda, Puntadewa was managed to destroy Astina governor named Lord Salya by devastating his power called Senapati Candrabirawa spell with the amulet of Kalimasada. This is in accordance with the oath of Begawan Bagaspati, who was killed by King Salya because he felt ashamed to have a gigantic parent-in-law. Before the giant's body disappeared in the sky a voice that said they would avenge his death if there is a white bloody knight.
