Puntadewa/Yudistira



Puntadewa is the oldest brother of the five Pandavas/Pandawa who became the king of Amarta/ Endrapasta. He was the son of King Pandudewanata with queen Kunti. Puntadewa has a wife Dewi Draupadi, the daughter of King Drupada of Pancala Kingdom. The marriage got a son named Pancawala. Puntadewa is an honest and sincere king who was also very patient, generous and appreciates other people. He would give what is requested by anyone, even his wife. He is a white bloody king who has a great power to transform to be a giant (God Mambang) if he was angry. 

In Javanese shadow puppet, Puntadewa is shown position tumungkul (downward) face, liyepan (droopy) eyes, walimiring (knife shaped) nose, and wide-mouthed. He wore a Gelung Keling crown and Sumping Prabangayun. His body is Satrio Alus decorated with Gajah Gelar. The foot position is pocong with Ningrat (noble) motives. Hi is generally shown gembleng. It looks plain without any decoration wore as a symbol of the perfection of life. 

In a Chronicle story Babad Alas Mrentani, Puntadewa could beat genie Yudhisthira, which was then fused in one soul in the body Puntadewa. Alas Mrentani which was originally a jungle had been built by the Pandavas/Pandawa to be a great country known as Amarta and Endrapasta, then Puntadewa crowned as the king with the title of King Yudhisthira.

In the great war Baratayuda, Puntadewa was managed to destroy Astina
governor named Lord Salya by devastating his power called Senapati Candrabirawa spell with the amulet of Kalimasada. This is in accordance with the oath of Begawan Bagaspati, who was killed by King Salya because he felt ashamed to have a gigantic parent-in-law. Before the giant's body disappeared in the sky a voice that said they would avenge his death if there is a white bloody knight.

Antareja


Antareja (Anantareja)  is a knight of Pendawa who is the son of Raden Werkudara (Bima) and Dewi Nagagini (Sang Hyang Anantaboga’s daughter in the heaven of Saptapratala). Antareja has a wife named Dewi Ganggi Ganggapranawa who is the daughter of the King Takshaka (the serpent king in Tawingnarmada). This marriage has a son named Aryan Danurwenda who became the duke of Astina Kingdom in the reign of King Parikshit. Antareja lived in the Jangkarbumi kingdom with a title Nagabaginda.

The apearence of Antareja is facing downward with Thelengan (widely open) eyes, Bentulan nose and Gethetan mouth. Furthermore, he has a Gelung Sapiturang crown with Jarot Asem; a Sumping (ears ornament) with Pandhan Binethot, Praba, Dibya and a twisted Nagapasa ornaments; and a jangkahan (feet form) of Raton with Konca Bayu. He also used a Candrakirana bracelet and wearing cloth with Poleng pattern (like his father Bima). Generally, Antareja is shown with blue face and his body is as snake scales, or with dark face and Gembleng body.

Antareja was born in the time of the occurrence of a major war in Suralaya, the battle between the gods and the King Nagabaginda of Jangkarbumi kingdom who wanted to marry an angel Sukerti. In that battle, the gods were lost, so he looked for assistance to Nagaraja and Antareja king. Antareja, that has been greased by Nagaraja’s saliva all over his body will not be penetrated by any weapon, was confronted with the King Nagabaginda. There was a fierce struggle, but eventually the immune of Antareja can destroy his enemies. The success of Antareja had been praised by the gods. He was crowned as Jangkarbumi king with a title Nagabaginda.

In the play Sembadra larung, there is told that Antareja left Saptapratala to find her father Werkudara, he appeared on the earth and found Goddess Sembadra had been dead and floated on a board. Therefore, on that occurance Antareja can meet Gatutkaca and his father Werkudara.
